You don’t often expect a propane tank truck to make you look twice, but when it rolls up wrapped in bold colours and powerful Indigenous artwork, it’s hard not to stop in your tracks and stare. For more than a decade, The Sarjeant Co Ltd. has worked with the MacLaren Art Centre by supporting local art initiatives like the VanGo Program. Through its Truck Art Program, the team has the ability to partner with First Nation artists and youngsters to transform their fleets into moving works of art. This initiative brings Indigenous stories, culture and expression right here to the streets of Simcoe County. “It’s great to see this artwork out on the road, carrying local stories to the communities we serve,” said The Sarjeant Co Ltd. team in a Wednesday social media post. The company, headquartered on Sarjeant Drive in Barrie, has emphasized the importance of building meaningful relationships with First Nations communities across Northern Ontario. “We take immense pride in being the trusted provider of propane solutions for heating and power that precisely align with the communities’ economic and environmental requirements,” stated the Canadian company on its website. “Through our partnerships with First Nations, we actively contribute to reducing reliance on diesel fuel, striving to foster self-sufficiency and prosperity.” Sarjeant Propane, family-owned and operated since 1889, offers a variety of services, including the supply, delivery, installation, and servicing of propane and propane systems.
