Suspected cocaine, cash, and pickup truck seized in trafficking bust, two charged: OPP

A drug investigation stretching across Simcoe County has led to the seizure of a large quantity of suspected cocaine, cash, and a pickup truck, leaving two men facing serious trafficking-related charges.

Police say members of the Orillia Detachment’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), working alongside the Orillia Community Mobilization Unit and the Southern Georgian Bay CSCU, executed multiple search warrants on Monday and Tuesday.

Authorities stated in a release that the warrants were carried out at several locations throughout the county as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Police allege the searches uncovered a significant amount of illicit material, including roughly 239 grams of suspected cocaine. Officers also seized $6,040 in Canadian currency, a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500, several cellular devices, and drug trafficking-related paraphernalia and packaging.

A 49-year-old Wasaga Beach man has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

A 26-year-old man from Midland is also facing charges, including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
