It may not feel like spring has arrived yet, with temperatures keeping us bundled up, but winter is officially behind us, signalling wind-down time for some slopes. Snow Valley Ski Resort is ready to close out its winter season this weekend, marking the end of another busy year, but not without one final round of fun. The resort is inviting the community to come out to enjoy the slopes until Sunday, with special events and activities planned to help fuel the send off. It is also offering extended hours and special pricing. Snow Valley Resort general manager, John Ball says it’s the local attraction’s way of thanking everyone for coming out and enjoying the surfaces they put out. Part of the schedule is the annual ‘Pond Skim’ on Sunday, when brave skiers and snowboarders can challenge themselves to see if they can make it over an 80-foot pond, an annual contest that typically draws in big crowds. Operating since 1952, staff say this season has been filled with memorable moments for families, beginners, and experienced riders alike. Looking ahead, planning is already underway for the 75th anniversary next season.
