Current mayor of Bracebridge, Rick Maloney has announced he will be running for re-election in the upcoming mayoral race. Maloney has held the position since 2022, succeeding former long time mayor Graydon Smith. Prior to his election as mayor, Maloney had been a member of council since 2010. “Bracebridge continues to be recognized as one of Ontario’s most desirable communities to live, work, visit and invest in,” said Maloney in a statement shared on Wednesday. “We have created momentum that benefits residents, entrepreneurs, workers and families alike,” he added. In his statement, Maloney credited his administration with “maintaining strong municipal finances” and advancing the climate action plan for the town. He added that going forward, his campaign will focus on managing economic growth, improving infrastructure and “protecting the unique character and natural environment of Bracebridge.” The municipal election in Bracebridge is slated for Oct. 26.
