Cowboys, cowgirls and fans gathered in Severn over the weekend as the Ram Rodeo made its way through the region. The two-day event showcased traditional rodeo events including bull riding, bareback and a fan favourite, barrel racing. Ross Millar, producer of the Ram Rodeo said the Orillia fairgrounds are one of the tour’s favourite stops. “We go to many agricultural communities and this one here has been exceptional and over the last couple of years, done a really good of job cleaning up the fairgrounds,” said Millar. “The crew here the committee, the fair board, it’s been a treat to deal with.” Erin Wright, general manager of ODAS Park, said the community has once again shown up to support the rodeo. “It’s wonderful to see our community come in and enjoy that and see what it’s like to be a cowboy,” said Wright. And its not just local residents taking in the rodeo, officials say. “You have people coming from all over the place to come and enjoy this and experience this, because they may not be able to experience this where they’re from,” said Wright. “So that has been a huge thing that we’ve noticed this year.” If you missed the Ram Rodeo in Severn it will return to the region on October 3 -4 during the Wasaga Beach Mayors Ram Rodeo.
