Police seize loaded handgun, extended magazine, cocaine, wad of cash from Toronto residence

Provincial police have laid multiple charges against a Toronto-area man following a large drug trafficking and weapons investigation.

On Thursday, officers from Huronia West OPP issued a search warrant at a Toronto home which later led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man.

Police allege a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, hydromorphone, oxycodone, crystal methamphetamine, a loaded handgun, an extended magazine, handgun accessories, and rounds of firearm ammunition were all seized from the residence.

A ballistic vest and a quantity of Canadian and U.S. currency were also uncovered during the probe.

Officers with the Toronto Police Service 14 Division helped assist the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police with the investigation.

The Toronto man was charged with knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammo, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

He was also charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
