Orangeville’s Rotary Park undergoes $1.2M facelift creating year-round hub for sport, leisure

One local park is undergoing a major facelift, with $1.2 million in upgrades set to transform the space into a vibrant, year-round hub for sport, leisure, and community life.

In an effort to protect jobs and support the redevelopment of Rotary Park in Orangeville, the province announced Friday that it will be expanding access to modernized community sport and recreation facilities in Dufferin County.

This launch is part of a $200 million province-wide initiative to revitalize local facilities and promote active, healthy living across Ontario.

“Our government is taking action to ensure Orangeville remains one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family. By investing in the redevelopment of Rotary Park, we are strengthening our community for years to come through additional recreation opportunities for children, families, and seniors,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon.

Upgrades

Rotary Park will receive new tennis and pickleball courts, paved parking, accessible pathways, self-cleaning washrooms, LED lighting, and large shade structures.

“These improvements will extend the park’s lifespan, support local programs and events, and create a more accessible space for residents,” stated officials in a Friday release.

“The Town of Orangeville is grateful for the provincial government’s support in the redevelopment of Rotary Park,” said Lisa Post, Mayor of Orangeville. “This investment will allow us to make a host of upgrades, creating more opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active and connected.”

According to the province, sport contributes more than $7.5 billion to Ontario’s economy every year, creating tens of thousands of good-paying jobs across the board.

“The Rotary Club of Orangeville is thrilled that the Ontario government will be supporting the Orangeville Rotary Park redevelopment project, a major step forward in creating a vibrant, inclusive community space where families, friends, and neighbours come together to enjoy nature, play, and connect—a space that truly reflects the spirit of community that defines Orangeville,” said the Rotary Club of Orangeville.

This revitalization is a fundamental part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario workers, businesses, and families by unleashing the economy and getting more shovels in the ground.
