Following a Sunday morning power outage, residents of Meaford, Ont., are being asked to conserve water. The outage occurred around 5:10 a.m. and electricity has since been restored, the municipality says “the plant’s power did not turn on the way it should have.” “As a result, the system is not working normally right now,” the municipality added in its notice posted online. Electricians are on site but in the meantime, residents are being asked to conserve water usage. The municipality says, if possible, delay laundry, dishwashing, and other non-essential water use. The town says if you are going to run a dishwasher or a washing machine, it is suggested to do so with a full load. Residents are asked to take shorter showers and avoid filling bath tubs. Little things, like turning off the tap when brushing teeth or shaving, are also recommended. Outdoor water use, such as watering the lawn or washing the car are activities Meaford is asking residents to hold off on.
