Man flashes knife outside Midland home, faces charges: police

A 25-year-old Tay Township man is facing weapons charges after police say he was spotted brandishing a knife outside a Midland home Thursday morning.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers were called to Hannah Street just after 10 a.m. following reports of a person flashing a knife in front of a residence.

By the time police arrived, the suspect had already left the area in a vehicle.

Through their investigation, officers say they identified the vehicle’s licence plate and later tracked it down at a home on Albert Street.

Police showed up at the home and, after about an hour, convinced the man to surrender peacefully. He was taken into custody without incident.

The accused has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief, and causing a disturbance.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the courts at a later time.

Police reported no injuries.
