Family, friends, and golfers arrived at Shanty Bay Golf and Country Club on Saturday for a good cause and to remember an important person in the Barrie community Karyn Stacey. Bryce Churcher, founder of the tournament said the tournament was a reflection of Stacey and to remember her. “Celebrate, a wonderful life of, Karen Stacy. She was a big member of the community, and she was very focused in on the community and, have some fun, play some golf and bring light, or bring forward the idea of combating social isolation, specifically with seniors,” said Churcher. June is also seniors month and organizers wanted to focus on seniors combatting isolation. “Slowly as you as you progress through life, you lose your friends, you you lose your family, you lose your loved ones and that’s where many of our inner circles are,” said Churcher. “That’s our focus is family and making sure everyone remains connected.” Organizers told CTV News they plan on doing more events that involve the public and seniors doing activities to together
