Town wants you to light up Wasaga Beach after dark

If you have a design for a funky, light-based art installation, Wasaga Beach wants to hear from you.

The town says it experienced companies are encouraged to bring forward concepts, partnership models and ideas for light installations that will illuminate the night sky along its popular beachfront this summer.

Those who feel they can answer the call are invited to apply for what Wasaga Beach calls an Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEOI), a council-approved initiative that the town credits for helping establish things like gondolas, ziplines and other tourist attractions along the beach.

Illuminated trails, projection-mapping spectacles and interactive large-scale light installations are all examples of installations Wasaga Beach says it is after, but various ideas are welcome.

The town says it hopes to light up Wasaga’s beachfront in a fashion similar to Vivid Sydney in Australia, Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge in British Columbia and Foresta Lumina in Quebec.
