More than a quarter-million dollars was raised in two time-honoured traditions. Walking and biking. Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation raised $262,000, and counting, during its Hike & Bike for Hospice. The money goes toward hospice palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. The 2026 annual Hike & Bike for Hospice saw more than 800 participants, who hiked and biked the trails of Collingwood, ensuring the programs and services of Hospice Georgian Triangle are provided at no cost to patients and families. Participants hiked six kilometres or biked either six or 20 kilometres. The excitement began at the Collingwood Curling Club with a sendoff from the Beinn Gorm Highlanders as the participants travelled through the Collingwood trails and along the shores of Georgian Bay. At the finish line, there was entertainment provided by DJ Nation and a delicious donated barbecue. “What an incredible day,” said Sandra Sullivan, executive director of Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation. “There was so much joy, energy and heart throughout the whole event. I am so proud of our community, our volunteers, our sponsors and every person who hiked, biked, donated or cheered someone on. “We are overwhelmed with gratitude and so excited by what this means for the patients and families we serve.” A new initiative, Kids Who Care, was introduced this year encourage young participants. Fifty-one children aged 12-and-under hiked or biked alongside family and friends while helping raise funds to support compassionate hospice palliative care in our community. It’s a wonderful way for kids to learn about kindness, community, and making a difference. “Every year, Hike & Bike for Hospice reminds us just how deeply this community cares for one another,” said Trish Rawn, Hospice Georgian Triangle CEO. “The funds raised help ensure that patients and families across South Georgian Bay can access compassionate hospice palliative care at Campbell House and through our community programs, at no cost. “We are truly grateful to everyone who helped make this record-breaking day possible,” said Rawn. The event’s success relies on over 120 volunteers and many local businesses that dedicate their support year over year. Hospice Georgian Triangle provides compassionate care at Campbell House and in the community for individuals with life-limiting illness and their families in the Blue Mountains, Collingwood, Clearview Township, and Wasaga Beach. Donations will still be accepted until June 15.
