High water levels across the Bracebridge–Minden–Parry Sound District continue to be concerning, impacting waterways across the region. The Ministry of Natural Resources has decided to keep a flood warning in effect until May 6, applying district-wide. RELATED: More than 25,000 sandbags filled and picked up in Minden Hills Officials say the greatest concerns at this time are focused on Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau, Lake Joseph, the Moon River including the Bala Reach, the Gull River watershed near Minden, and the French and Pickerel River systems. WATCH: ‘Recovery Mode’: Muskoka begins next steps in flood recovery as water levels lower The Ministry says lake and river levels are expected to gradually stabilize over the coming week, with some areas potentially seeing modest decreases depending on weather conditions and runoff. Currently, water levels and flows remain elevated in several locations, with some areas experiencing conditions comparable to those seen during the 2019 flood event. Self-serve sandbags continue to be available at numerous locations including at Bala Sports Park, Hanna Park, George Road Landing and the Minden Curling Club parking lot. Residents and visitors are being advised to continue to be cautious near all waterways, especially in low-lying and shoreline areas.
