Firefighter injured after responding to house fire in Angus

Crews responded to Browns Line just before 7 a.m., where a blaze spread from a garage into the attic and roof of a home.

A firefighter is being assessed after responding to an early morning blaze that started in a garage and spread to the attic of a home in Angus.

On Monday, crews were called to a fire on Browns Line at around 6:40 a.m., which was believed to have been caused by an electrical issue.

Officials say the blaze erupted in the garage and spread into the attic and roof.

Mutual aid was called in due to the area not having hydrants, so crews say additional water tankers were brought in for support.

There was a total of 10 emergency vehicles on scene.

While everyone was able to escape and there were no other injuries, one firefighter injured his arm. Officials say he is okay.

Crews say there was also damage to a neighbouring storage building on the property.

The total damage of the fire has been estimated at roughly $600,000.

A couple was believed to live in the 800-square-foot home.

Police say the fire is not suspicious.
