Fifth arrest made in Bolton homicide, two suspects still wanted

A fifth person has now been arrested in connection to the death of 65-year-old Giovanni Costa.

A fifth person has been arrested in connection with both the 2021 killing of a Bolton, Ont., man and a separate shooting in Vaughan in 2020.

Back on March 12, 2025, police say 45-year-old Damion Ryan of Ottawa was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

These charges stem from a series of shootings in 2020 and 2021.

In November 2020, a man was shot at a Steeles Avenue West business in Vaughan and taken to the local hospital.

Two months later, on Jan. 18, 2021, gunfire erupted inside a home on Harvest Moon Drive in Bolton. Two people were shot, including the victim from the Vaughan incident.

Giovanni Costa, 65, was found dead at the scene.

Investigators say two additional suspects remain at large.

Filmon Fesshaghirg​is, 27, of London, is wanted on charges including first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Police say he is known to frequent London and the Greater Toronto Area.

Waheed Barakziye, 48, also of London, is wanted Canada-wide on the same charges and is also believed to travel between London and the GTA.

Officers are warning the public not to approach either and to call police immediately if seen.

“With a fifth person arrested, the OPP’s investigation continues as officers work to identify the whereabouts of two wanted individuals. If anyone has any information, we urge you to contact police immediately,” said OPP Det. Inspector Steven Martell with the Criminal Investigation Branch.

The Province of Ontario is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions in the murder of Giovanni Costa.

No further details related to the identity of the fifth arrested individual have been released.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
