Another edition of the Troubadour Summer Concert Series returns to downtown Barrie this weekend and a Barrie born artist will be front and centre. Born in Barrie and raised in Innisfil, Carlin Nicholson is a member of the band Zeus, who will open up for Bahamas at the Saturday night show. RELATED: Troubadour Summer Concert Series Aug. 15 show “For us, it’s awesome, so many good friends and some of our family can come too. It’s great,” Nicholson told CTV News. Nicholson tells CTV he and Afie Jurvanen (known otherwise as Bahamas) met in grade 10 music class. “We became close very fast, we made a band essentially, it was my brother, another Zues member, Mike, myself and Afie,” he said. For the Zeus band, it’s year 17 of being in the music business. Their next album, is titled Studio Archives: Lost and Found. Nicholson explained the album comes from the band’s adventure to find print versions of an album from 2009 to reprint and sell. “And so we decided, let’s go digging and find some extra stuff from that time and make a deluxe (album),” Nicholson explained. “We found way more than we thought we would and ended up finding a full album’s worth of basically fully fledged, produced, Zeus songs (in 2010),” he said. “So we decided to put it all together,” Nicholson said. “It’s hilarious and it’s just awesome and it’s a testament to how much we were doing at the time,” he said. The Troubadour Summer Concert Series is presented by Paul Sadlon Motors, CTV News Barrie, PURE COUNTRY 106, BOUNCE 104.1, Hey Bear Productions, Lemmon Entertainment, City of Barrie and Tourism Barrie.
