A driver is facing stunt driving charges after provincial police stopped them for allegedly travelling at more than double the speed limit on Highway 10 in Dufferin County. According to Dufferin OPP, the 25-year-old driver was clocked at 175 kilometres per hour in a posted 80 zone near County Road 109 Friday morning. “Speeding reduces your ability to react, increases stopping distance, and significantly raises the risk of serious injury or death in a collision,” said Dufferin OPP in a social media post. “As the long weekend begins, please slow down, drive responsibly, and help ensure everyone arrives safely.” Drivers accused of stunt driving in Ontario could face penalties that include a 30-day licence suspension, a 14-day vehicle impoundment, fines ranging between $2,000 and $10,000 and possible jail time.
