Days under the scorching sun, with sandy feet and soaked hair are soon returning, and in the Town of Wasaga Beach, the shoreline experience will feel refreshingly new this season. Construction is currently underway for a massive, multi-year redevelopment project that will see the town’s iconic beachfront turn into a year-round destination. Concept designs for the ambitious Destination Wasaga Master Plan are set to be revealed next month, offering residents a glimpse into the future of the world’s longest freshwater beach. The public is invited to review and provide feedback on the proposed designs at the public engagement sessions, scheduled for April 7 to 9 at the Wasaga Beach RecPlex. The draft concepts were developed by Urban Strategies, the Town’s design partner, using feedback gathered from more than 500 residents, business owners, and stakeholders during initial consultations in November 2025. The project aims to support long-term redevelopment efforts, funded in part by a $38-million investment from the Province, and is expected to strengthen Wasaga Beach’s position as one of Canada’s top tourism and recreation destinations, which already attracts more than two million visitors annually. Officials say the upcoming sessions will allow participants to explore concept images in detail and help refine the plan before a final draft is presented to council later this year.
