Brad Gardiner scored halfway through the first period and Ben Hrebik made 29 saves as the Barrie Colts blanked the Niagara IceDogs 5-0 and advanced to the second round of the OHL Playoffs on Saturday night. William Schneid, Emil Hemming, Carter Lowe, and Ben Wilmott also scored for the Colts in the win. Cole Beaudoin added two assists and set the tone early in the game with a spirited fight with IceDogs captain Ethan Czata. History repeated itself on Saturday night as this is the second straight year the Colts have defeated the IceDogs in the conference quarterfinals. The Colts advance to the conference semifinals for the fourth straight year and are set to face the Ottawa 67’s. The Colts and the 67’s split the season series 2-2, with the Colts outscoring the 67’s 15-11. The Colts will continue to have home ice advantage in the series against the 67’s.
