The City of Barrie says residents can expect closures along Shanty Bay Road as watermain installation gets underway starting Wednesday. From Aug. 19 to Sept. 11, residents can expect a full closure of Shanty Bay Road from Crestwood Drive to Penetanguishene Road. Local traffic and emergency vehicles will be permitted to go through during the closure. The city says school buses will be provided access in the final days of construction in the area. Meanwhile, remaining traffic will be directed on a detour via Ridge Road West, 5 Sideroad and 6 Sideroad or Penetanguishene Road to Blake Street.
