Cattle truck crash on Highway 11 in Muskoka, Ont.

Cattle walked down Highway 11 in Bracebridge, Ont. on Wed., Nov. 5, 2025, after a collision involving the truck transporting them.

A transport truck carrying cattle has rolled in the center median of Highway 11 near Bracebridge.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said Highway 11 is closed in both directions due to a collision involving livestock and that drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Reports say approximately a dozen cows were walking on the highway’s asphalt near Cedar Lane and Taylor Road shortly before 6 p.m.

“As a result of the collision, there are several deceased cattle, and minor injuries have been reported for the driver,” OPP said.

“OPP, alongside emergency services and a local farmer, are working to secure the cattle at the scene.”

Dozens of emergency vehicles have attended the scene and emergency personnel were attempting to capture the wayward beasts as of 6 p.m.

“There’s a bunch of cows on the road,” said Richard Grossi a commuter trapped in the southbound traffic.

Grossi said he could also see several cows lying lifeless on the road.

James Ketch, another driver stuck in melee, said he too saw deceased cows, and could see live cows wandering up the highway.
