It’s a lot full of trees right now, but soon the site at 125 Simcoe Road will be home to a brand-new Civic Centre. The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury announcing Tuesday that crews will begin site preparation later this month, kicking off the start to this big development project. The future multi-purpose facility will be open to the public and feature an arts theatre, council chamber, fitness centre, public spaces, and town offices, creating a central hub for the community. In a release, Mayor Leduc stated, “This project represents a significant investment in the future of our community,” adding that “The new Civic Centre will bring together essential services, recreation, and cultural space under one roof—creating a central hub that reflects the growth and ambition of Bradford West Gwillimbury.” To make way for the building and parking, 19 trees will be removed, but the town plans to plant 60 new trees to support environmental sustainability. No date has been set yet for completion of the project.
