A beach in the region is now offering a route right to the shoreline that is accessible to all. To kick-start National AccessAbility Week, the Town of Penetanguishene has unveiled its new accessible beach pathway at Rotary Champlain Wendat Park. The path allows people who use wheelchairs and mobility aids to more easily access the water. “This project reflects the priorities set out in both our 20-Year Community-Based Strategic Plan and our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan,” said Penetanguishene Mayor Doug Rawson. “By removing barriers and improving access to our waterfront, we are taking meaningful steps toward building a more inclusive community, one that supports dignity, independence, and equal opportunity for all who live in and visit Penetanguishene.” This week celebrates the contributions and leadership of people who have disabilities and the work that organizations and communities do to make life more accessible and inclusive for everyone across the country.
