Alleged snowmobile theft under investigation

A snowmobile that was allegedly stolen in Tay Twp., Ont.

OPP investigators are appealing to the public as they investigate a snowmobile that was allegedly stolen overnight between Friday and Saturday in Tay Township.

According to Southern Georgian Bay OPP, dispatchers received a call from a snowmobiler on Saturday reporting that his broken-down snowmobile was missing.

Police say the caller reported that his snowmobile broke down at around 8:45 p.m. Friday evening and that he had to leave it on ice near Methodist Island in the middle of Georgian Bay. The caller then reportedly stated that his snowmobile was gone the following day.

His snowmobile is described by police as a black 2017 Ski-Doo Renegade ‘Backcountry,’ registration number 3AM148 and serial number 2BPSUGHB7HV000002.

Police say the vehicle has a cracked side panel that has been riveted together and its odometer was at approximately 3,200 kilometres.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP investigators are using what3words.com to precisely indicate the vehicle’s last known location on Methodist Island just north of Victoria Harbour. The what3words location cited by the detachment is wallet.splashes.blackout.
