P.E.I. RCMP seizes 250 grams of crystal meth, arrests 4 people in Upton

The Prince Edward Island RCMP arrested four people – three of whom were wanted on outstanding warrants – and seized more than 250 grams of crystal methamphetamine in Upton earlier this week.

Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Monday. The seized crystal meth represented between 12,500 and 50,00 potential doses, according to an RCMP news release.

Along with the crystal meth, officers seized a quantity of fentanyl, several crossbows and swords, drug paraphernalia, and an RFID and Bluetooth signal replicator.

“This is the first signal replicator device seized in PEI to my knowledge,” said Cpl. Gavin Moore, media relations officer for the P.E.I. RCMP, in the release. “Now that a device like this has been found in the province, Islanders should be aware of its potential uses and report any suspicious activity involving similar devices.”

Police say the signal replicator can be used to copy ID badges, open garage doors and unlock vehicles.

Officers arrested:

• a 30-year-old Charlottetown woman wanted for assault with a weapon charges from Charlottetown
• a 34-year-old Charlottetown woman wanted for possession for the purpose of trafficking charges from Prince County
• a 35-year-old Summerside man wanted for possession for the purpose of trafficking charges from Prince County
• a 56-year-old man who will appear in court at a later date
