A teen from Nova Scotia’s Antigonish County is facing charges following a motorcycle crash on Wednesday. A RCMP Northeast Traffic Services officer noticed a motorcycle travelling eastbound on Highway 4 near James Street in Antigonish around 2:45 p.m. Police say the driver, and lone rider, wasn’t wearing a helmet. “When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled, travelling the wrong way on Hwy. 104,” reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP. “In the interest of public safety, the officer didn’t pursue the motorcycle. Information about the vehicle and its direction of travel was shared with officers in the area.” The officer saw the same motorcycle a short time later on Highway 104. Police say the vehicle was approaching in the wrong direction before the driver lost control and crashed on the roadway. “The driver attempted to flee on foot but was safely arrested. He was transported to hospital for assessment, and the motorcycle was seized,” reads the release. Cole Sinclair, 19, from Addington Forks has been charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle and flight from police. The teen was also issued summary offence tickets for nine offences under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act and Vehicle Inspection Regulations, including: Sinclair was released pending a first court appearance scheduled for Sept. 16 at Antigonish provincial court.
