Stolen vehicle located, imitation firearm found during arrest in Upper Stewiacke, N.S.

A man has been arrested in Upper Stewiacke, N.S., after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.

RCMP said on Friday around 10:30 p.m. officers noticed a 2013 Jeep Patriot in Brookfield which had been reported stolen from Stewiacke on Wednesday. According to police, officers followed the Jeep to Meadowvale Drive in Upper Stewiacke, where they stopped the vehicle.

The driver, a 28-year-old man from Truro, and the passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Onslow, were then arrested.

Police said the driver was in possession of an imitation firearm at the time of his arrest.

Tyler Nathaniel Burns has been charged with:

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
• Failure to comply with release order (two counts)
• Possession of an imitation of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Police said he remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

The passenger was released without charges.

RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
