Run To End Endo: Dartmouth event to support those living with painful condition

Get all the details on the upcoming Run to End Endo, an endometriosis awareness and fundraising event.

Approximately two million Canadians live with endometriosis, an inflammatory disease that can cause chronic pelvic pain, painful periods, bowel or bladder symptoms, and even infertility.

The promising news is there are resources and a community to help those impacted by the condition.

The Endometriosis Network Canada is raising money to drive educational initiatives and foster supportive communities through the 2026 Run to End Endo. The event takes place Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Graham’s Grove Park in Dartmouth, N.S.

Lauren Rogerson, the director of the Halifax-area run, says the community was supportive of last year’s inaugural event.

“We’re just looking to grow every year from now on,” said Rogerson.

“It’s a 5K walk or run, but people are encouraged to kind of listen to their own bodies. It’s the annual fundraiser for the network, but it’s also just a community event to encourage support and local resources for people with endo.”

Endometriosis can be a debilitating and isolating condition, and Rogerson says even getting a diagnosis can be a challenging process.

“It’s being talked about more, but before it was not,” says Rogerson.

“The more we can connect with other people, realize that others are going through the same thing and kind of sharing tips and tricks that have worked. Talking to local health-care professionals makes a huge difference for people’s diagnosis and treatment and whole process.”

Rogerson says she grew up with a similar condition, so knows firsthand the feelings of isolation that can come with endometriosis.

“I’ve just grown my passion for helping others in that position. I’m fortunate enough to be in a position where I can give my time now, so I’m happy to do it,” she says.
