A man was seriously injured following a hit-and-run Sunday morning in Dartmouth. Prior to the collision, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) said officers saw a pickup truck with no licence plate in a parking lot off Yorkshire Avenue Extension around 10:30 a.m. When police approached the vehicle, they said the driver sped off. Officers then followed the truck and tried to stop it, but they said the driver continued toward Windmill Road and hit another vehicle in the intersection. A 58-year-old man who was driving the vehicle that was struck was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Police said the incident has been referred to the Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT). The independent police oversight agency is responsible for conducting investigations into incidents involving serious injuries that may have resulted from the actions of a police officer. Following the crash, police said the pickup truck continued onto the MacKay Bridge. As of 5 p.m. Sunday, the driver had not yet been located. Police describe the vehicle as a newer model black Ford F-150 with a tonneau cover. Officers ask anyone with information or video of the truck or its driver to call 902-490-5020.
