Ottawa is partnering with Millbrook First Nation on a $29-million apartment building in Cole Harbour, N.S. The 68-unit building is located on lands in the Cole Harbour Indian Reserve No. 30. The federal government is spending $28.4 million on the project through the Affordable Housing Fund while Millbrook will pitch in $912,000, according to a news release. “Our new 68-unit apartment building is nearing completion in Cole Harbour and will meet the housing needs of many in this area,” said Chief Bob Gloade with Millbrook First Nation in the release. “Also, I am very proud of our housing department that met the Housing Accelerator Fund commitments and exceeded targets- building multiple homes on-reserve for our community members.” Indigenous Services Canada is spending $930,000 on the project while Ulnooweg will spend $250,000. “Ulnooweg is proud to support Indigenous-led projects that create long-term economic opportunity and respond to the evolving needs of our communities and the region,” said Christopher Googoo, COO of Ulnooweg. “Partnerships like this help build stronger, more sustainable futures through meaningful development and investment.” For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
