A man who was charged with breaking into a home in Mulgrave, N.S., last month has now also been charged in a separate break-in that happened about 10 days before. Antigonish County District RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a home on Old Mulgrave Road around 7:40 p.m. on June 23. “Officers learned the homeowner observed a man and a woman exiting the residence, which was not occupied at the time,” said the RCMP in a news release Tuesday. “The homeowner verbally confronted the two before they fled on foot into a wooded area.” While responding to the call, an RCMP officer spotted a woman matching the female suspect’s description. The officer arrested the woman and determined she was also a suspect in a stolen vehicle investigation that had started earlier in the day. The RCMP had been looking for the woman, who was suspected of fleeing from police in a stolen truck, driving dangerously through Antigonish and Guysborough counties, and nearly striking police vehicles. Tanya Marie Young, 36, of Scotchtown, N.S., has been charged with breaking and entering with intent for the alleged break-in on June 23. She is also facing charges in connection with the driving incidents from earlier that day. Man accused in separate break-in Through their investigation, police identified the man believed to be involved in the break-in as 45-year-old Jadrian Shamus MacLean of Mulgrave. He was arrested and charged with breaking and entering with intent. Police determined MacLean was also a suspect in a break-and-enter investigation led by Inverness County District RCMP. Inverness RCMP launched an investigation on June 16 after receiving a report that people may be staying in a vacant home on Spring Street, without the homeowner’s knowledge. “Through the investigation, officers seized evidence of at least one person staying in the home,” said police. MacLean was charged on Monday with breaking and entering with intent and possession of property obtained by crime in connection with the incident in Inverness County. He is also facing two counts of failing to comply with an order. MacLean and Young were both released on conditions and are due to appear in provincial court at a later date.
