The Nova Scotia Energy Board is using the interrupter mechanism to change the pump price of gasoline and diesel after midnight on Wednesday. The board says these changes are “necessary due to significant shifts in the market price.” The interrupter mechanism allows the board to change the price of petroleum prices outside of the scheduled price setting to respond to spikes in costs. The board last used the interrupter to raise the minimum cost of diesel by 5.3 cents per litre on Feb. 25. It was last used on gasoline to lower the minimum price by 6.2 cents on April 8, 2025.
