Police in Cape Breton say a section of a busy road in Sydney, N.S., has reopened following a four-vehicle collision Thursday morning. Police responded to the area of the Cape Breton Drive-in Theatre at approximately 8:45 a.m. where two cars and two trucks were involved in a collision, said a news release. Cape Breton Regional Fire Services helped remove the occupants of three heavily-damaged vehicles. EHS transported all three drivers and one passenger to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with serious injuries. One person was later airlifted to Halifax for treatment. The driver of the fourth vehicle was not injured. Grand Lake Road was closed between the Mayflower Mall and Gardiner Road from around 9:45 a.m. until just after 2 p.m. During the closure, Cape Breton Regional Police Service asked people to follow the direction of emergency crews and use alternate routes, if possible.
