Kentville, N.S., man arrested in firearms investigation: police

A 37-year-old man from Kentville, N.S., has been arrested on firearms charges.

Kentville police executed a search warrant with Nova Scotia RCMP and made the arrest in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Leslie Charles Owen Newell has been charged with:

• careless use of a firearm
• unauthorized possession of a firearm
• possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized
• possession of a weapon obtained by crime
• two counts of weapons possession contrary to order.

Newell appeared in court on Wednesday.

He was released pending a future appearance in Kentville provincial court on Oct. 28.
