A free and family-friendly heritage festival is heading to the Halifax waterfront next month. The Maritime Heritage Festival will be held around the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on Sept. 13 and 14. The event will give people a chance to celebrate the province’s Maritime heritage through hands-on programming, ship tours and live music. It will also feature activities aboard the CSS Acadia and HMCS Sackville, pop-up exhibitions, as well as ocean and naval presentations. “The Maritime Heritage Festival brings together the past, present and future of our relationship with the sea,” said Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage Dave Ritcey in a news release. “It’s a celebration of Nova Scotia’s unique coastal identity and an invitation to explore and get involved in our vibrant ocean and maritime sectors.” More than 20 partners are taking part in the festival.
