Halifax residents told to expect traffic delays this weekend due to FIFA World Cup

Traffic could be heavy and parking could be scarce this weekend as the FIFA World Coup Trophy Tour comes to Halifax.

The historic trophy is touring across the country ahead of the World Cup series that will be held in Canada, the United States and Mexico next month.

The trophy will be at the Soccer Centre at 210 Thomas Raddall Dr. from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday.

The Soccer Centre will have limited parking from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day. Attendees are encouraged to carpool or take Halifax Transit.

The Halifax Mainland Common Park parking lot, which is located near the centre, will be closed on Frida. The dog park will stay open.

There will be no parking on Thomas Raddall Drive during the event. The Canada Games Centre at 26 Thomas Raddall Dr. will offer two-hour parking for event ticket holders.
