Halifax police wake up suspects, seize loaded handgun and cash

Two people are facing multiple firearms charges after Halifax police woke them up and seized a loaded handgun on Saturday.

Police say they responded to a report of two people who were found unresponsive but breathing at a residence on Withrod Drive around 1:50 p.m. Officers at the scene found a man, a woman, a handgun and a large quantity of cash.

“The weapon and cash were seized,” a news release from Halifax Regional Police reads. “Both suspects were woken up and taken into custody without incident.”

Raheem Munroe, 33, was scheduled to appear in court on Monday to face charges of:

• possession of a firearm prohibited or restricted obtained by crime
• possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• possession of a firearm – no licence/certificate
• unauthorized possession of a firearm
• store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
• possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
• two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order/failure to surrender
• four counts of failure to comply with condition of a release order

Daejiah Johnson, 27, will be in court at a later date to face charges of:

• possession of a prohibited device or ammunition obtained by crime
• possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
• possession of a firearm – no licence/certificate
• unauthorized possession of a firearm
• store firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
• possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
