The price of gas and diesel increased in Nova Scotia Saturday. The Nova Scotia Energy Board said it would use the interrupter mechanism to change the price of all grades of gasoline and diesel oil at 12:01 a.m. due to “significant shifts in the market prices.” The price of regular self-serve gasoline in the Halifax area increased by 6.7 cents per litre. The minimum price is now 168.7 cents per litre. The price of diesel increased by 8.9 cents per litre overnight to a new minimum of 220.0 cents per litre. This increase follows a drop in price Friday. In Cape Breton, the price of regular self-serve gasoline increased by 6.7 cents per litre. The new minimum price is 170.6 cents per litre. Diesel increased by 8.9 cents per litre overnight. The minimum price is now 221.9 cents per litre. On Friday, gas and diesel prices were adjusted in both New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Another adjustment is scheduled Sunday for P.E.I. The regulatory and appeals commission said a price interruption will be effective at 12:01 a.m. for regular gasoline, premium gasoline, furnace oil, and diesel. “Global events have resulted in market volatility, which sometimes requires unscheduled pricing adjustments,” said a news release Saturday.
