The federal government is spending $500,000 towards a new community and youth hub in Glace Bay, N.S. The spending, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Innovative Communities Fund, will go towards the New Dawn Youth and Family Centre, a family and youth hub, which is currently under construction. The government says the spending will support more accessible spaces for people of all backgrounds and will give young people opportunities to build skills in workforce training, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, newcomer services and youth leadership. The New Dawn Youth and Family Centre is set to feature 49 licensed full-day childcare spaces for children, a full gymnasium, a community kitchen, a café, a creative lab, and both indoor and outdoor skateparks. “Our government is pleased to support the multi-purpose rooms at its new Youth and Family Centre, helping the organization broaden its reach, deliver more services in one place, and help more people develop their talents, pursue their goals and shape the region’s future,” said Sean Fraser, federal minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. The New Dawn Youth and Family Centre is scheduled to open in 2027. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
