Dartmouth, N.S., home destroyed by fire

A home in Dartmouth, N.S., has been destroyed after a Monday evening fire.

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency were called to the scene on Renfrew Street after 5 p.m.

The fire was in a single-family home in the middle unit of a row house.

Dozens of firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the unit.

The blaze was brought under control just after 6:30 p.m. and was declared out about 30 minutes later.

Halifax Fire says one person was taken to hospital. There is no word on their condition.

The unit where the fire broke out is described as a “complete loss.”

Homes on either side were saved, but sustained minor damage.
