A child is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle and vehicle collided in West Chezzetcook, N.S. The RCMP responded to the collision at the intersection of Highway 207 and Bellefontaine Road around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say a Toyota Matrix was turning left onto the highway from Bellefontaine Road when it collided with a Honda motorcycle travelling south on the highway. The driver of the Matrix, a 28-year-old man from West Chezzetcook, was treated at the scene and released. The driver of the motorcycle, a 43-year-old man from Grand Desert, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A child, from Grand Desert, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The RCMP would not provide the child’s age, but stated “a child is considered under the age of 12 years old,” in an email to CTV News. Police confirmed both the motorcycle driver and passenger were wearing helmets. The intersection of Highway 207 and Bellefontaine Road was closed for several hours. It has since reopened.
