Atlantic Menopause Show comes to Halifax

Dr. Ardelle Piper stops by the studio ahead of the first-ever Atlantic Menopause Show.

Dr. Ardelle Piper, the keynote speaker for the upcoming Atlantic Menopause Show in Halifax, says women these days are more open to discussing their menopause journeys than previous generations.

“We’re willing to talk about it rather than hide it,” she told CTV News Atlantic’s Maria Panopalis on Thursday. “We want solutions, we want to live our best lives.”

Piper, a Royal College-certified OB/GYN, said women don’t have to accept some of the discomforts of menopause thanks to advancements in science.

“We have so many treatments for hot flashes and night sweats,” she said. “Women shouldn’t accept less than feeling better.”

The Atlantic Menopause Show will be held at the Halifax Convention Centre on Friday. Along with Piper’s speech, it will feature sessions on nutrition strategies, sleep troubles, cardiovascular health and medication.

The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
