A woman from Esgenoôpetitj, N.B., has died following an early morning hit-and-run Saturday. RCMP said officers were called just before 4 a.m. to a reported hit-and-run on Micmac Road in the community. According to police, it’s believed the driver was travelling southeast when they veered onto the shoulder and struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 33-year-old woman, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. Police said the driver left the area before officers arrived. Police were not able to provide a description of the driver or vehicle at this time. The RCMP is asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time who has dashcam footage or who has any information about this incident to call the Neguac RCMP at 506-776-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
