Wanted Moncton man charged for allegedly fleeing from RCMP in stolen truck

A wanted man from Moncton, N.B., has been charged after he allegedly fled from police in a stolen truck last Thursday.

RCMP officers responded to reports of a truck driving erratically on Route 1 in the Nauwigewauk area around 3:30 p.m.

Police say they found the truck quickly when they arrived in the area.

A tire deflation device was then deployed.

Police say the device damaged the truck, but it continued to evade officers “at a high rate of speed” and they did not pursue it.

A team of RCMP officers, including police dogs and helicopters, then found the truck on Route 2 near Salisbury, N.B.

Police say the truck was abandoned after it left the road.

The driver was eventually found by police dogs and arrested.

The 32-year-old man from Moncton was the only person inside the vehicle.

Police say it was reported stolen from a home in Bloomfield, N.B., earlier that day.

The suspect was also on an active Canada-wide warrant in connection with another incident.

Raymond Leblanc appeared in Saint John provincial court on Friday and was charged with:

• dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
• flight from police
• theft of a motor vehicle

He was remanded into custody and will appear in court again at a later date.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
