New nursing home brings 60 beds to seniors on New Brunswick’s Acadian Peninsula

A new 60-bed nursing home held its official opening in Hautes-Terres, N.B., Thursday.

The Villa St-Isadore will provide care to seniors on the Acadian Peninsula and let them stay close to their families and communities, said a news release from the province.

“Ensuring seniors have access to high-quality care in their own communities is more than a priority; it’s a duty,” said Lyne Chantal Boudreau, minister responsible for seniors.

The government said the new beds align with their commitments in the 2018-2023 Nursing Home Plan. Now they are analyzing future long-term care needs across the province, said the release.

“The opening of Villa St-Isidore brings 60 much-needed beds into our network, providing an important facility for the Acadian Peninsula,” said Social Development Minister Cindy Miles.

The land for the home was donated by the late businessman and philanthropist Richard Losier. A partnership of local businesses built the facility and leased it to the non-profit, La Villa St. Joseph ltée / Villa St-Isidore Nursing Home Partnership, which operates the home.

“It is the result of a collective effort rooted in solidarity and a shared commitment to better meet the needs of our seniors,” said Marc-André Vienneau, the nursing home’s executive director. “We are proud to offer a welcoming, respectful and adapted environment where residents can not only receive quality care but also continue living life to the fullest surrounded by their loved ones and their culture.”
