New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt is set to join Prime Minister Mark Carney in India in an effort to strengthen trade in the Indo-Pacific region. The New Brunswick government says the trip will focus on expanding trade and investment, supporting talent and education partnerships, and reinforcing economic ties between New Brunswick and India. The trip, which will include stops in Mumbai and New Delhi, will span from Thursday to Sunday. “India represents significant opportunity for New Brunswick businesses, institutions and workers,” said Holt in a news release on Wednesday. “As we look at diversifying our markets in the face of President Trump’s illegal tariffs, we’re perfectly positioned to build on the relationships New Brunswick has in India. Working alongside the prime minister and our federal partners, we can diversify our markets, strengthen long-term relationships and create new opportunities for growth here at home.” Holt is set to take part in meetings with business leaders and government officials, where she will discuss the province’s strengths in partnerships regarding technology, advanced manufacturing, forestry and education. In 2024, New Brunswick exported around $190 million in goods and services to India. The provincial government says New Brunswick is the only Atlantic province with a physical presence in India through Opportunities NB.
