The New Brunswick government is giving the Horizon Health Network more than $188,000 to run a centralized phone line for abortion services in the province. The government says the intake system is expected to reduce instances of patients booking multiple appointments. “Previously, New Brunswickers would need to call individual family planning clinics or other providers to find out availability and book appointments,” said Health Minister John Dornan in a news release. “Now, they will have one number to call to reach someone who can inform them of their options for medical and surgical abortion and help them secure a booking for the best appointment option.” New Brunswick offers surgical abortions at family planning clinics in the Chaleur Regional Hospital, the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre and the Moncton Hospital.
