A New Brunswick RCMP officer in Sussex is facing charges following an investigation by the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT). SiRT received a referral from the RCMP on Jan. 29, 2024, regarding an incident that took place on April 28, 2023. As a result of an investigation, Const. Jonathan Murphy was charged on Feb. 19 with: - distribution of intimate images without consent - breach of trust by a public officer Murphy is scheduled to appear in Saint John provincial court on Feb. 28 at 9:30 a.m. “As the matter is before the courts, and in consideration of the fair trial interests of the accused, SiRT will not provide further comment on the investigation,” reads a news release from SiRT.
