A couple who became stranded on ledge while in hiking in the U.K. have a selfie to thank for their rescue.

On May 29, a couple hiking in Peak District National Park in central England got stuck while scrambling up a steep bank.

Rescuers said they were able to access the couple fairly quickly and get them off the cliffside, in part because the couple sent a recent selfie to the team.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Edale Mountain Rescue Team said the rescue job was made “more interesting was this was possibly our first callout via ‘selfie!’

The team said the couple’s location could be “clearly seen in their earlier” selfie. They commended the couple for the having the “presence of mind” to send it to authorities while trapped on mountain.

“This allowed the team to access their position rapidly,” the rescue team said.

The couple was not identified by the Edale Mountain Rescue Team.
