A reporter in Houston, Texas helped rescue a truck driver from flooding live on local TV.

Brandi Smith, of KHOU 11 News, and cameraman Mario Sandoval were covering Hurricane Harvey on Sunday when they spotted a truck stuck in several metres of water and a driver who was trapped inside.

While still on live on air Smith ran to flag down a sheriff’s car towing a boat that drove past. She let police know there was a man underneath the bridge and in danger.

The television signal cut out just as the rescue team got their boat in the water but Smith took to Twitter to inform viewers that Robert, the driver, was safe and posted a video on Facebook showing him being pulled out of his flooded vehicle.
